In the month following publication, I got involved in some local events which was super fun. As part of the Wanstead Fringe, I chatted to teens at my local Oxfam about the writing process and how to get published. I also joined the lovely Newham Book Shop folk on their stall at Winchelsea Market in the Wanstead Tap, to sign books. The day before publication I had my launch party at the fantastic Waterstones Piccadilly. Despite the weather tipping it down with rain and feeling nervous all day about having to do ‘public speaking,’ once I got there I had a perfect evening. It was busy and I barely had time to spend more than a minute or two with each person, sometimes less, but it was so wonderful to have friends, family and colleagues from all parts of my life come together to celebrate.
Also, free wine.
Special thanks to Lauren Gardner for the giant box of Chewits you can see me opening below, which I’ll probably still be working through by Christmas.
